Friction

Years ago, I sat down to speak with a Pastor for counsel on a friendship with someone. The problem was, we were encountering the same conversations that I was no longer comfortable having, amongst other things. The pastor explained to me that things were clear to him; I was experiencing friction.

Friction occurs when one thing moves over another, or one object is stagnant while the other moves forward. This motion always causes resistance and conflict.

__

The weird thing is, I agreed, yet I continued to try and create a space for us to co-exist. I considered her a friend. As time progressed, I realized I had to make the hard decision to love her still but from afar.

___

This friction is present with me today! It's not with my relationships but more so with my desires for more. This week, I found myself complaining about everything that appeared to be hindering my growth in certain areas—even fussing at myself for not making the necessary changes.

__ This week's change

I decided to reroute my thoughts and thank God for the obstacles. You see, we have two choices when we are in seasons of transition. We can complain about the problem or thank God for it and then pray for a strategy to overcome it.

__ Encouragement to you

I encourage you to stop looking at what you think is blocking your progress and replace it with thanks, faith, and strategy. Friction is good. It causes us to stop, re-evaluate life, pray, and prayerfully overcome.

__

I pray you see things the way God does and trust Him Wholeheartedly with whatever friction is present in your life. God always has a plan in a plan 🤎
