When my heart is overwhelmed

I am one who can walk through life with my head held high while my world is seemingly falling apart. But there are some seasons and some moments when the smallest things tend to get to me. When this happens, I began to feel the feels and what wasn’t “a thing/care” for me even a month ago tends to pierce my heart, causing me to second guess where I am, but more importantly, if I am still on the right path. 

In these moments, I find myself praying for things that I would not have prayed for had I not felt this overwhelming burden of life.

I believe the Lord allows these breakdowns so that we can align our prayers with His desires. You see, when we pray, we pray for the things we think we need. “Lord, fix this relationship, heal this, Pay this, make way for this.” But God sees and knows way more. So yes, He hears those prayers, but He is more interested in His ultimate plan than our temporary relief.

Psalm 61:2 reads, “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

If your heart is overwhelmed today, trust that the Lord is leading you. He is leading you into himself, Our ROCK. Trust Him
